Demand Prediction for New Connections: Preparing for the Future

One of our partner utilities faced rapid population growth and an influx of new real estate projects, making it challenging to allocate resources for new water connections. Without accurate forecasting, they risked being underprepared or overcommitted.

Using WaterGuru, the utility was able to predict demand by analyzing factors like population growth, real estate development, and existing connection rates. As shown in the graph above, WaterGuru flagged regions with higher predicted new connections, such as the West, which was experiencing multiple large housing projects. With this data, the utility could proactively allocate workforce and materials, ensuring they were ready for the increase in demand.
